We will miss you Maya Angelou and will cherish all you’ve done to remind us of our greatness — to remind us we are one.

We are one and we are many, we are black and we are white, we are rising from the shadows — from the dark into the light.

To trust the longing deep within that is waiting to express the sacred aspect of our being — the path to joy and happiness.

To feel the beauty, feel the passion, know the value of our worth — hear the whisper in our spirit to leave our footprint on this earth.

To not get stuck in grand illusions that can stop us in our stride, to forgive all that has hurt us — our heart will be our guide.

We don’t need a mighty army, we don’t need bullets and guns — all we need is a tiny seed filled with gratitude and love.

To plant a seed right where we stand and to water it with care — to feel the love inside expanding as we breathe in fresh new air.

We are lions, we’re not kittens, we have strength and we can roar — we can’t play small, weak and shallow when we know we’re so much more.

I am grateful for you, Maya, you have helped us see the light — I’m inspired by your courage and your faith and all your might.

Maya Angelou lived with passion and her heart was open wide to help heal our pain and suffering and to show us how to rise. Still I rise.
