Senior Correspondent

In terms of the congregation
community transmission
means worshippers live stream
the organ and the homily,
split screens for the heavenly
and the grocery list:
toilet paper
pretzels
beer
coffee
candy
bleach:
the woman at the well —
that’ll preach —
but “No toilet paper” is the text
from the one who left
(before the benediction,
a good word whose intention
is to send us out)
to walk the aisle with strangers
past empty shelves
in sure and certain hope
a shipment will soon arrive.
