Grandpa’s Coat

I picked up Grandpa's coat, when he passed away
Now I realize it was my propitious day
No need to wait until I'm going somewhere
Can put it on, then sit in my favorite chair
For when I feel lonely, I slip it on
It does not take long, that feeling is gone
It keeps me warm outside and inside
I can remember him with admiring pride
I recall things he said, when I was not good
It took a few years before I understood
Now when I wear his coat, it is crystal clear
It is like his voice is whispering in my ear
It is like he is walking with me
When I wear it for a little walk
What a satisfying feeling to have
Listening to someone that does not talk
When the need for grandpa's coat is complete
I will give it to someone else to keep
Then grandpa's silent voice they can hear
Knowing when they need him, he is near
