Senior Correspondent Partners with Seattle-Area Senior Living Community

Raleigh, N.C., March 28, 2017 — Senior Correspondent, a digital news venture that shares the stories of older adults, has formed a partnership with Judson Park, a Seattle-area senior living community.

Through the partnership, Judson Park residents explore life experiences by crafting essays and poetry. Senior Correspondent publishes those writings across its award-winning website and mobile app and engages readers of all ages through its social media channels.

The partnership gives Judson Park a community landing page (/judson-park) on the Senior Correspondent website, professional editing and social media promotion. Residents experience the sense of purpose that comes with reporting on their lives, while making intergenerational connections through an extensive online community.

“Connecting to the wider community has always been important to Judson Park, and now our partnership with Senior Correspondent opens another avenue for that,” says Executive Director Nikole Jay. “When we discuss the use of innovative approaches to successful aging, this kind of enriching partnership is exactly what we mean.”

Launched in 2010 by Raleigh, N.C.-based communications firm Signal Hill, Senior Correspondent features the reporting of veteran journalists alongside personal essays, commentary and poetry contributed by older adults, many of whom live in retirement communities.

Senior Correspondent’s aim is to create a fuller picture of contemporary issues and historic moments by providing context and personal perspective — “a seasoned view of the world,” as the media venture puts it. Grounded in the latest research on successful aging and life review, Senior Correspondent enhances the well-being of older adults through the power of narrative.

“Honoring the experiences of older adults is a fundamental value that drives both of our organizations,” says Senior Correspondent founder Daniel Pryfogle. “By writing on their experiences, Judson Park residents make meaning of their lives and share wisdom with others. We’re excited to do this important work together.”
