Senior Correspondent Welcomes Food Writer

Raleigh, N.C., March 23, 2017 — Senior Correspondent, a digital news venture that features the reporting of veteran journalists, welcomes noted food writer Debbie Moose to the team.

Moose started her career in the newsroom after graduating from the journalism school at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. But she soon found that her real love was writing about food. “The only thing people like as much as eating food is talking about it,” she says.

Her award-winning columns run monthly in Raleigh’s News & Observer. She is the author of six cookbooks, including "Buttermilk: A Savor the South Cookbook,” published by the University of North Carolina Press, and “Deviled Eggs: 50 Recipes from Simple to Sassy,” published by Harvard Common Press.

Her work has also appeared in Southern Living, the Dallas Morning News, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Edible Piedmont and The Charlotte Observer. She is a member of Southern Foodways Alliance and past president of the Association of Food Journalists.

“Food is the kind of topic that calls for a seasoned journalist,” says Senior Correspondent founder Daniel Pryfogle. "Food is so central to our lives. It has history and sociology. The making and eating of food is full of ritual, and sometimes it’s political. Debbie Moose is the perfect writer to take on this subject.”

Moose contributed her first column to Senior Correspondent last week. She explains the origin of corned beef and cabbage — just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
