As Christmas is celebrated in Incarceration Nation, it’s worth remembering certain things about the two figures who dominate this holiday.
I try to maintain a regular schedule of Wednesday publication, but there are times, as for example when I find myself climbing into an airplane in Geneva midmorning of a Wednesday, when sticking to schedule would be more in the genre of electronic athleticism than of journalistic virtue.
There is a seemingly endless list of leaders who chose war — Hannibal, Caesar, Napoleon, Hitler — to name a very few.
It’s not Iran, nor health care, nor immigration, nor even the loss of liberty in the name of security — it’s none of these — and yet, it is as worrisome an issue as any of the others, maybe more so.
It started out a long time ago in shop class at Charles Brantley Aycock Junior High School in Greensboro.
