Bob Marshall
Bob Marshall was born in Maplewood, N.J. His family moved to North Carolina when he was 5 years old. He grew up in Winston-Salem and remained there until he left home for Davidson College. He graduated from Duke Medical School and stayed on for a residency in pediatrics. During the Vietnam War, he served as a pediatrician in the Army at Ft. Campbell, Ky.
Bob then decided to go into academic medicine and did a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel. For 16 years, he was on the faculty of the University of Texas Medical School in Houston before moving to Chattanooga, Tenn., to establish a pediatric endocrine program for the University of Tennessee teaching program.
Retired since 2008, Bob worked as a volunteer with Hospice. He moved to Galloway Ridge in Pittsboro, N.C., in 2015 to be closer to his roots, children and grandchildren.
