Senior Correspondent

Clara Sias

Clara Sias was born and raised in the heart of apple country in Tonasket, Washington.

She spent many years working in real estate before going back to school to become a licensed massage therapist. After working in a sports and medical massage clinic for several years, she retired.

At 65, Sias picked up the hobby of “volkswalking” — a non-competitive sport that includes walking, hiking, bike riding, and more. She surpassed her goal to Volkswalk in all 50 states before reaching 70 years old by hitting all 50 states as well as 14 European countries, Australia, New Zealand and much of Canada.

A self-proclaimed late bloomer that adopted four children at age 39, Sias began her writing career at 78 years old after taking a writing class at Judson Park. The teacher was so fascinated by Sias’ stories that she was encouraged to write about them.
