Maya Ruisseaux
Maya is a retired graphic designer and business owner who currently resides in Cary, N.C. but is originally from the Northeast. She has been a blogger, online news researcher and contributor, and political activist for more than a decade. In 2009, she retired and left her family home of 35 years, moving to North Carolina. These sudden simultaneous changes fostered introspection.
From Maya’s introspection came the desires to question, examine and share the process of aging; although universal, aging is so differently perceived. Maya confronts topics often avoided in an effort to bring positivity. She strongly believes that life is wide open and age is just a number.
Beyond writing, Maya embraces the arts; she paints, designs Holiday ornaments, dances competitively, and has recently discovered “real” cooking. Almost all of these endeavors were begun in her mid-sixties – a time which Maya refers to as her “new season.”
